New series of events set to strengthen business resilience and collaboration

Barclays will be amongst the speakers giving advice on finance, funding and the future of business at the first event in a new series of free, informative networking sessions that aim to help local companies grow, overcome challenges and get to know their business neighbours.
Organised by Fenland District Council, its economic development arm, Fenland for Business, and economic development partner, Opportunity Peterborough, the first event will take place on the morning of 25 April 2017 at the South Fens Business Centre in Chatteris.
Attendees will be able to network informally with local businesses before and after expert talks from:
- Barclays who will be discussing the European timeline and what to expect, how business can succeed in the current economic climate, as well as finance and exports and how they can help.
- Signpost2grow, a not-for-profit business support service, will provide further information on grants and alternative funding options for businesses.
Going forward, the sessions will tackle different challenges and opportunities faced by local businesses and be held bi-monthly in Chatteris.
Fenland District Council, Fenland for Business and Opportunity Peterborough are confident of the series’ popularity, having already successfully established popular, free networking events that run every 4 weeks in Wisbech in partnership with Link4Growth, a not-for-profit organisation. These events will continue to run as normal, separately to this new series.
Peter Richardson, Inward Investment Manager for Fenland District Council said, “The success of networking events in Wisbech has shown there’s huge appetite for collaboration in Fenland. What we want to do now is provide more tailored support to help local businesses grow.
“Throughout the series we’ll be tackling some of the historic and emerging challenges facing Fenland businesses; from sourcing digital talent through to customer acquisition and marketing.
“By combining expert speakers, quality support and informal networking we hope that businesses will find it easier to work together to tackle common issues and find cost-effective solutions to any growth barriers.”
Alongside networking, attendees will also be able to discuss any professional or business challenges and opportunities with representatives from Fenland District Council.
The event will take place on Tuesday 25 April, 10.30am – 12.00pm at the South Fens Business Centre on Fenton Way in Chatteris with the talks beginning at 10.30am. Attendance is free but delegates are encouraged to register ahead of the event. To register a free place, please click here.
